Alvin Edwin Frost (Al) was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on December 26, 1948, to the late JD Frost and Lillie-Wilson Frost. Al was the third born of five children: Donald, Joyce, Alvin, Yvonne and Greg. The two oldest siblings Donald and Joyce preceded him in death. Al departed this life Wednesday evening December 11, 2024, at UC Hospital.
Al attended the Cincinnati Public School system, Evanston Elementary and Withrow High School. He completed High School in 1967, but graduation was postponed due to the race riots happening across the United States that summer. Al was affiliated with the Hebrew Israelites and taught under the name “Yoel Yisrael” for several years and became one of their prevalent teachers. Al was joined in marriage to the late Mary (Hardy) Frost, and to that union his loving son, Jermaine was born on November 5, 1974. The young family looked forward to building a life together. Al started Plush Limousine Service to support his family. His talents didn’t end there, he also opened his own Karate studio where he taught both adults and youth. Al was an avid writer and storyteller; his smooth midnight voice was always soothing, and he gave the greatest advice. Al was later called to serve our country by enlisting in the United States Army and was honorably discharged four years later. When he returned home, he found employment with Ford Motor Company and The Greater Cincinnati YMCA. Al was also known by many as the “COWBOY” for his ability to wrangle a horse or two. He joined the “Black Cowboys” and participated with the CBC (Cincinnati Black Cowboys, Inc.) as their Program Director. Al enjoyed spending time with family and friends traveling and playing cards. He will forever be loved and missed by his family and friends.
Al leaves to cherish his memory; Two Sons, Jermaine E. his wife (Mia) Frost , Brian Campbell; Two siblings, Yvonne and Greg; Four Grandchildren, Jermaine T. Frost, Jahmaine Frost, Queen Frost, Khristina Miller; One Great-Granddaughter, Karcyn Miller; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
